About Cheryl Lunsford
Cheryl has a deep rooted history in folk music traditions and song. She grew up playing rhythm guitar in her father's bluegrass band in the Roanoke Valley, not far from her family home-place of Floyd Virginia. Her musical journey continued as she graduated from Chilton Guitar Studio in 1978 and went on to earn a BA in Voice and Music Studies at Mars Hill College in North Carolina in 1982. Cheryl has also studied guitar under National Flatpick Guitar Champion Scott Fore and as an apprentice for the Virginia Foundation For the Humanities. (VFH). She is also recognized as a VFH Virginia Folk Artist, and played on the Virginia Stage at the National Folk Festival in Richmond (2005).
